Tres vinos españoles en el Top 100 Cellar Selections de Wine Enthusiast

Con casta, estructura y potencial de envejecimiento. Así son los vinos que selecciona la revista estadounidense Wine Enthusiast, entre los más de mil  catados cada año, para incluirlos en los Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2020. De esa forma ofrece información y recomendaciones destinadas a ayudar a quienes desean ir creando una bodega. 

En la lista aparecen marcas de regiones como Napa, Barolo, Oporto, Burdeos, Borgoña y Champagne junto a sorpresas escogidas entre Soave Classico de Italia, Riesling de Alemania y Cru Beaujolais de Francia. En definitiva, una relación en la que además de tintos hay blancos, espumosos y vinos dulces y en la que España solo sitúa a tres tintos, todos ellos de Rioja. La relación comienza por el puesto que ocupan seguido de la puntuación. La descripción concluye con el momento recomendado para el consumo y el precio en Estados Unidos expresado en dólares.

Earthy plum and berry aromas set up a palate with plush tannins and layers of depth. Befitting a hot year like 2011, dark berry and plum flavors are full, while this exhibits fine shape on the finish and only gets better the longer it sits. Ripe, earthy berry aromas include spice notes and a hint of animal while forming the passageway to a great wine. A dense palate is tightly built and pure, with layers of ripe berry, plum and oak flavors that are ideally balanced. This is an extremely generous yet impeccably crafted Tempranillo from an outstanding year; drink from 2025–2040. 14% Price: $125

  • 97) 93 Bodegas Faustino 2009 Faustino I Gran Reserva (Rioja). 

Classic Rioja aromas of vanilla, spice, tobacco and dried berry fruits carry this wine. On the palate, this warm-vintage gran reserva has energy from well-stored acidity, while the flavors include cherry, plum, mocha and a plethora of spices. Chocolate and tobacco flavors along with general warmth crowd the finish. Drink through 2030. 13.5% Price: $40
